2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match report South Africa v Ghana 25 March 2021

Ronwen Williams retained his spot in goal, as Ruzaigh Gamildien featured up top alongside Percy Tau and Themba Zwane with Thapelo Morena also given a run out.

Bafana Bafana should've taken the lead from poor defending as early as the fifth minute, but Morena flashed into the side-netting from a tight angle in the six-yard area.

The chances still came the way of the host a little later, with a glancing header from Tau going off target before Sifiso Hlanti forced a save off goalkeeper Razak Abalora.

A casualty on the side of Bafana midway through the first half saw Ben Motshwari replacing Andile Jali, who couldn't carry on playing due to a knock.

Bafana missed another clear chance to go ahead right on the half-hour mark when Morena smashed a low ball from the edge of the area into the side-netting.

The Black Stars broke the deadlock two minutes from the break after Mohammed Kudus evaded Siyanda Xulu to slot in off the bottom post and into the net.

However, Bafana were all square again inside 51 minutes when Tau ran onto a through ball from Gamildien to fire in from the far side of the six-yard area.

Bafana came close to go ahead a few minutes from drawing level, but the Ghanaians managed to successfully clear the danger.

The Black Stars nearly regained the lead late on through a low shot Afriyie Acquah, but he went wide before a snap shot from Innocent Maela worked a save off Abalora, as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.

The draw means Ntseki's men will only need a point against Sudan to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
