EXCLUSIVE: Royal AM sink into another multi-million FIFA transfer ban mess case

Royal AM's troubles with FIFA know no ending with yet another transfer ban having been imposed for their failure to adhere to the global mother body's ruling.

The KwaZulu-Natal club already has a transfer ban on their heads which was imposed for the case relating to Samir Nurkovic.

Down in fourteenth place on the DStv Premiership standings, Royal AM cannot make any signing during the January transfer window just like they were also not able to bring in new players at the beginning of the season.  

Ricardo Nascimento has frozen his thoughts of retirement by joining a new club following his return home to Brazil after spending the past seven years playing in South Africa.

Nascimento spent a season and a half playing for Royal AM after earned his worth in domestic football through his time at Mamelodi Sundowns where he spent six years.

The 36-year-old has since rejoined his Rio Branco Esporte Clube for the 2024 Campeonato Paulista – Serie A4. 

This means Nascimento will play in the fourth-tier league of the Paulista championship which falls under the Sao Paulo Federation.

While Nascimeto gets ready for matters on the field, his name was a subject of interest on Monday as FIFA imposed a transfer ban on Royal AM.

This website is in possession of a letter from FIFA's offices in Zurich dated January.

In the letter it is stated that – 'in this regard we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally has been implemented by FIFA as of today.

"Moreover, and in accordance with the aforementioned decision, respondent's member association is requested to immediately implement on the respondent, the Club Royal AM, a ban from registering new players at national level," reads the letter signed by Julien Duex, the Head of Judicial Bodies (Adjudicatory) at FIFA.

SAFA has been copied in the correspondence, which is also in the hands of Pedro Felipe Gomes da Silva, partner of RA Law Firm based in Sao Paulo, Brazil who made this website contacted him from his base.

"The club has a structure best understood by them and with us after failing to get a solution from them through all means that we tried, we then resorted to FIFA," Felipe tells this website from Sao Paulo.

The amount due to Nascimento stretches into millions and is known to this website. 

"We were then successful in our claim, and they have since failed to pay within the stipulated time which is why there is now a transfer ban imposed.

"They won't be able to sign new players until they have paid.

"We received the confirmation from FIFA today (Monday). 

"Royal AM is a club that fails to fulfil their promises and agreements.

"It was a contract dispute," says Felipe.
