In our latest feature, Where Are They Now, KickOff catches up with former Free State Stars and Bloemfontein Celtic star Kleinbooi Taaibos on his life after football.
In his successful football career, the former midfielder won the SAA Super 8 Cup with Bloemfontein Celtic.
Who am I?
"I have played for Bloemfontein Celtic, later on, I went to join Free State Stars for two seasons and Black Leopards just for about eight months.
"I played for about, almost a decade. And that is something most people don't know. I started with Bloemfontein Celtic in the NFD.
"Winning the SAA Cup was most prominent for me. We beat a SuperSport United team that was coached by Pitso Mosimane."
My playing days
"I am happy with them, but I feel I could have done more as a player. I have no regrets though. Playing for Bloemfontein Celtic was the best day of my career. It was marvellous for me. Even now they are still my most loved team."
Did I make money from soccer?
"I wouldn't say so because in those days when I started, it was under Dr. Petrus Molemela, he didn't have a huge sponsor until Jimmy Augosti came on board. That's when things got a bit better.
"That's when one could improve the life of his siblings, but I can't say we made money because we lived from hand to mouth."
Where I'm living
"I'm back at home in Welkom, I'm from the Free State."
Jobs since playing the game?
"After retiring I was so fortunate to find a job in football. I've been coaching Harmony High School for about six years now. That is where I'm currently making a living.
"When schools are closed, I depend on my company that provides me with jobs in the construction business."
If I could do it again
"When I still playing in the development leagues, I wish I could have had someone who would tell me that these are the years that develop you to be a better player.
"If I knew what I know now I could have taken the development more seriously. I would have been a more exceptional player than I was."
