In this edition of Where Are They Now, KickOff catches up with former Banyana Banyana coach Fran Hilton-Smith.
The legendary football coach reveals to KickOff her biggest achievement in the football industry.
Who is Fran Hilton-Smith, give us a little background:
"I'm someone whose life has been for developing women's football. I have coached men and women, and I have worked for FIFA, helping develop coaches. That has been part of my life.
"I was there from the very beginning when Banyana Banyana started. I was involved in football even before we started with the women's team in 1993.
"And in 2000, I became the coach of Banyana Banyana. And they went on to be the second-best team in Africa. I have worked for SAFA for 20 years as a technical director and head of women's football. I became a FIFA instructor in 2001.
"I was born in Germiston, and I still live in Germiston."
Did you make money from soccer?
"Nah, I have never made money from football, but I made good memories. Banyana Banyana are African champions, and most of our women are now professionals.
"But my biggest achievement is I started 23 years ago the High Performance Centre at Tuks University, for girls to come and live and play football.
"Many of my girls, like Thembi Kgatlane and Linda Motlhalo, are now professionals, and they are making money. Finally, my dream has come true.
"Many of the players I have worked with are now top coaches, like Simphiwe Dludlu and Janine Van Wyk. So I'm not rich with money but I'm rich with achievements."
Jobs since playing the game?
"I'm a musician, I have played music my whole life. I have played with big bands, the big one being Basadi Women of Jazz."
Your current job?
"I do motivational speaking. I wrote a book, I do speak about promoting my book. I also do coaching for SAFA and CAF."
If you could do it again?
"I would be firmer. I would not be pushed around so much because I wanted to achieve in women's football. I wouldn't put up with so many difficulties."
