Vincent Pule reflects on rise of Thembinkosi Lorch

Orlando Pirates midfielder Vincent Pule has reflected on his and Thembinkosi Lorch's journey and feels his teammate deserved the big honours at the PSL Awards.

Lorch walked away winner in two of the three categories he was nominated for at the annual end-of-season awards in Durban on Sunday evening, including the two main prizes – Player's Player of the Season and Footballer of the Season.

The 25-year-old beat the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Themba Zwane and Hlompho Kekana for his crucial contribution in helping The Buccaneers maintain their title fight against the champions until the final day.

His teammate has since reflected on the journey they have travelled together since sharing the same pitches in the third-tier ABC Motsepe League just five years ago.

"We come a long way – since he was playing for Maluti FET College and I was at African Warriors, so we used to sit together," said Pule, who bagged the Goal of the Season award.

"I think playing with him again is something special, having come such a long and now playing together again, it's an unbelievable feeling.

"I also think he's been unbelievable this season, scoring goals and assisting, working hard in defending and attacking; I think he deserves it."
