The Urban Warriors had led through Abia Nale's 19-minute goal, but Lidoda Duvha equalised through Michael Nkambule's first touch, before captain Rodney Ramagalela netted a dramatic winner in stoppage-time.
The three points saw Leopards draw level on 23 points with the Cape side, and Chidzambga was happy with the fighting spirit on display.
“In the first half we were not fighting, but in the second half we put up a spirited performance and I’m very pleased with the boys,” the Zimbabwean said after the game.
“At halftime I told the players to attack them [Ajax], to go at them, but not to forget to defend. They did that and we got the three points.”
Man of the Match was Raymond Monama, and he says they knew it was a must-win game.
“We knew we had to go all out today because if we were going to lose against Ajax it was going to be a mountain to climb to get six points from the teams we have to play away from home, so we had to work hard and fight all the way,” he said.
“I worked hard, but the whole team had to work hard and credit must go to them because they kept me going and encouraged me all game.”
Leopards will be banking on more points in their next two matches, against University of Pretoria and AmaZulu.
