Senzo Meyiwa trial postponed on seven-year anniversary of tragic murder

Seven years to the day since Meyiwa's death in 2014, the Boksburg Magistrates Court postponed the matter to the 11th of April.

The state announced an arrangement with the defence on an agreed date for the trial being from 11 April 2022 to 29 April 2022.

The trial will then resume from 30 May 2022 to 17 June 2022. While the accused will be detained without parole.

Speaking immediately after the court's ruling, Meyiwa's brother Sifiso, maintained that the five men accused of his brother's murder are being framed.

"I think the case now needs to be referred to the president [Cyril Ramaphosa]," Meyiwa said.

"The president now needs to intervene because the nation has lost faith in his cabinet.

"In the beginning, the minister of police, Bheki Cele was at first agreeing with us [on the actual perpetrators] because we know them and he also knows them but now has come out to say it's these five people.

"I don't know if the minister is scared now. He is perhaps scared of something, I don't know or maybe he is scared that they will do something against him, I don't know.

"I'm very strong because I'm a man of God, I believe in God, I don't fear anyone."
