Falcao starred for River Plate early in his career, scoring 36 goals in 93 matches between 2001 and 2009, before a move to Europe. Following success for Porto and Monaco, the Colombian has been less than impressive at Old Trafford, netting just four goals in 22 appearances thus far.
Yet his former Argentine club have now revealed they are keen to bring back the 29-year-old to Latin America.
"We are dreaming of Falcao, the doors are open," club vice president Matias Patanian told Esto es River. "It depends on what is sold to bring him in mid-year. If we do not sell we can bring in two players."
In a separate interview with Colombian newspaper El Tiempo, River Plate president Rodolfo D'Onofrio also revealed his club’s interest in the Red Devils frontman.
"Falcao will always be in the team's plans," he said.
Just last week, Falcao said he was happy in Manchester, yet would like more regular game-time, making his stay in England unlikely come the end of the season.
