Njabulo Ngcobo living his dream with Swallows FC in the PSL

Ngcobo, who is a product of AmaZulu and who was signed from Uthongathi FC in the GladAfrica Championship last year, says he is still trying to adapt to the DStv Premiership.

Nevertheless the 26-year-old, who in September last year was one of Swallows' first acquisitions ahead of a huge signing spree last year, has actually taken like a duck to water in the top league.

"The top-flight football is very tough, I won't lie, it's very tough. It's on another level, but there's not so much difference to the GladAfrica Championship, it's all about how hard you work," Ngcobo tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I've learned that you can't afford to make small mistakes because they will punish you, unlike in the NFD."

With his standout performances, Ngcobo has been receiving a lot of praise and believes what is currently happening to him will show many that it is possible to succeed in football.

"I'm really shocked by the reaction and by the support I'm getting, it's still unreal and it feels like a dream, but I'm happy that I'm being noticed and that means I'm growing as a footballer," he says.

"It also sends a message to those coming after me that everything is possible if you work hard. So the support I'm getting, it really surprised me. It's really a dream come true. This motivates me to keep working hard."

South Africa has lost many talented players because they failed to deal with fame but Ngcobo plans to keep working hard and avoid the dangerous distractions as he aims to help the Dube birds achieve something huge this season.

"I'm just praying to be injury-free, avoid unnecessary cards and the most important thing is to avoid distractions by all this attention," he adds.

"I need to be consistent and help the team finish in the top five, if not win the league and get one cup."
