Njabulo Ngcobo issues apology after Kaizer Chiefs outburst

Ngcobo made headlines earlier this week after reacting negatively towards being substituted during Chiefs' DStv Premiership defeat to Golden Arrows in an outburst that culminated in a heated exchange with goalkeeping coach, Lee Baxter.

The 2019/20 PSL Defender of the Season had previously made a costly defensive error that saw his side concede a goal and was visibly upset when being hauled off in the second half of the encounter, first ignoring co-coach Dillon Sheppard before reacting angrily to a confrontation with Baxter.

He was widely criticised for his actions and has now issued a statement to the club's supporters in which he unreservedly apologises to what he described as a "heat of the moment" response.

"I would like to sincerely apologise to coach Arthur Zwane, coach Dillon Sheppard, coach Lee Baxter, my teammates, Kaizer Chiefs management and all Amakhosi supporters for not shaking the coach's hand and for the outburst that followed after being taken off," Ngcobo said in a statement released on the club's website.

"I take full responsibility for my actions and such should not be repeated. I am not proud of what I did. It was a heat of the moment thing because I made some costly mistakes during the match and it's not nice knowing that you've let the team down as a player, but that does not justify any of my actions. I promise to do better in the future."
