The Premier Soccer League has been warned against contravening their own return-to-play plans, which may result in government stopping proceedings in its tracks.
The 2019/20 season is expected to resume this weekend, after their earlier return to training, in accordance with the approval by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.

The stringent measures outlined in their Covid-19 protocol have not been taken lightly, with Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Monday confirming that monitoring has been taking place.
"An internal monitoring team has been on the ground and monitored 11 PSL football clubs who received permission to train," said Mthethwa during a press briefing.
"All teams have taken all necessary measures to comply with the plans that they have submitted."

Furthermore, Mthethwa also stressed that government reserve the right to halt any activity should the League of clubs fail to comply with the regulations amid the resumption of play.
"We have also considered the return to play of contact sport, and we are pleased that the DOH has concurred with the proposal for football to return to completing the season behind closed doors, in a biologically safe environment, which is a closed environment of the procured hotels, transport hubs, training grounds and stadiums," he added.

"This is subject – and this one is very important – to the plan they have submitted and all other protocols as outlined in the regulations and directions published by the department.
"Those plans should be adhered to, it's not a fait accompli that people will just get into the field and play; they will play based on the plans which were submitted to the DOH.
"We reserve the right to halt any activity if we feel and think that those protocols and plans are not adhered to.
"The compliance officers of both Safa and PSL will work together and ensure that all measures comply with the commitments made by the PSL in their submissions to government.
"We are expecting to receive the compliance officer's report from SAFA on the state of readiness of the PSL to resume play."
