The former Orlando Pirates star also explains the origin of his popular nickname 'Bibo'.
The DStv Premiership star who is a vital member of the Cape Town City side at the age of 35 years old, reveals how a high school friend gave him his name.
"When I arrived at Pirates I was Bibo, then Baba Mthethwa gave me the Scathulo one. To be honest with you, I prefer both of them.
"Both are fine with me because they are like a second name now.
"I think we were in Grade 8, and I used to love the Bibo juice we had back then.
"There was also this signature move I used to do called 'Vala'. It was renamed after my nickname.
"Even now in Alexandria when you do a 'Vala' they say you are doing a 'Bibo'. So that's how I got the nickname you know.
"In the beginning, I didn't like the fact that the Bibos had a picture of an Oros like man cartoon. So I thought this guy meant I was fat. But as time went by I started to understand and then started liking it.
"As for Is'cathulo sika madam, you know in every household once a madam speaks even if you are the man of the house you listen. That's how it was explained to me because I controlled a game."
Makola also gave a forthright opinion as to why the culture of handing players nicknames was dying in South African football
"To be honest with you, I don't know how some players will take it or other people will take it but these days to make it into a PSL team you don't need to be extremely talented," Makola added.
"Whereas before you had to be extremely gifted for you to play in the PSL.
"That's why I feel the quality of football back then was just too good.
"But now everything is the same for me, so that's why I feel we used to get given nicknames."
