Affonso, who was playing his football in Peru, says Sundowns' exploits in the CAF Champions League attracted him to the club. The lanky striker is currently with Sundowns in Mpumalanga for a pre-season camp, as they prepare for the 2019/20 campaign. He arrived in the country on Sunday.
The Uruguayan striker was happy with the way he was welcomed by his new teammates.
"It feels good to be here at Sundowns. It's a big club, as lot of people know. They welcomed me well since I arrived in the country on Sunday. So far so good and I am training well with the team," said Affonso.

"I didn't know much about Sundowns, but when the club made contact with my agent I did research about the club and found out about the exploits in Africa and the [Club] World Cup. It's an honour for me to come here and play for the team," he added.
Affonso is hoping to make a significant contribution to the club's success going forward.
"I expect to contribute to the team as a striker and attacker. I wanted something different in my career and felt Sundowns will be a good challenge for me to achieve that. I am already looking forward to the new season," he said.
