Match report: Bloemfontein Celtic vs SuperSport United

Co-coaches Lehlohonolo Seema and John Maduka recalled veteran goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb following his disciplinary issues with the club and started Malawi international striker Atusaye Nyondo up front.

SuperSport were again without injured first-choice goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and star striker Jeremy Brockie. Coach Stuart Baxter also dropped centre-back Clayton Daniels to the bench, perhaps with one eye on next weekend's Telkom Knockout final against Cape Town City.

There were no goals in the first half, but Celtic had the better of the chances, with Musa Nyatama missing their best when he fired over from the edge of the box.

SuperSport forward Kingston Nkhatha was lucky to stay on the pitch after two terrible stud-up challenges that yielded only a yellow card when he either might have seen him get red.

Celtic had a chance to win the game late on when Dumisani Zuma was fouled by SuperSport keeper Pieterse in the box, but Masuku put his penalty against the crossbar.

Five of the last seven meetings between the sides have now finished in a draw, while neither team has won away in fixtures between these two clubs in any of the last nine games.
