Lehlogonolo Masalesa struggling on Dikwena sidelines

Masalesa returned to Dikwena in July following a year with Greek side AEL Larissa but is yet to play this season after hurting his ankle on international duty with Bafana Bafana at the Cosafa Cup.

Stars coach Roger de Sa has confirmed the former Orlando Pirates midfielder is still some way off from shaking off the knock.

"Only on Thursday [last week] he came to the training ground just to do a warm up and little bit of passing. He hasn't been involved in anything else," said De Sa, who previously worked with Masalesa at Pirates and Bidvest Wits.

"He only started on Thursday with a little bit of work on the field, but he's still very cautious, still limping. So it could take another three or four weeks maybe."

De Sa is confident Masalesa will add value to his struggling side, which is propping up the Premiership standings with two points from six games.

"He's going to help us and also he gives us options," said De Sa, who took charge of the Phokeng-based outfit two matches into the season following the sacking of Englishman Peter Butler.

"We can also play Vuyo Mere at right-back again in his rightful position and let 'Vieira' play there.

"At the moment it's been a bit of a chess game, shuffling players around just to get by. Hopefully we can bring players in and with those guys coming back from injury, we could have four or five players coming into the side."

De Sa's charges will hope to earn their first win of the campaign when Mamelodi Sundowns visit Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday (15h00).
