Chiefs, who drew 0-0 with Bloemfontein Celtic in midweek, will host Dikwena on Saturday, three days before they try overturn a 1-0 deficit in the decisive leg of their MTN8 semi-final with Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium.
"We are involved in a back-to-back league and cup fixtures at the moment and we need to employ a few changes, maybe resting one or two players and bringing in some fresh legs on Saturday," Baxter is quoted as saying by his club's official website.
Midfielders Lucky Baloyi and Josta Dladla are two such players that could benefit from Baxter resting some of his established stars.
Meanwhile, the League champions trail joint-leaders SuperSport United, Moroka Swallows and AmaZulu by two points after five games, with Baxter conceding Amakhosi are up against it in their title defence.
"Last season we dominated from the word go," Baxter said.
"We occupied the top spot from the word go which is a rare situation in modern football. As things stand we are not repeating that because the other teams have woken up to the challenge and everyone has prepared so that they don’t allow the repeat of the last season.
"I know I am capable and have a squad that is able to compete in the League. And where we are at the moment doesn’t say where we will end up at the end of the season.
"We are prepared and we will keep on fighting until the last match of the season," insisted the Briton.
