Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena finally ended his wait for an elusive first victory as they put an end to their six-match winless run.

Pirates walked away with three points for the first time in six weeks when they beat Chippa United 2-1 at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a brace from new signing Tshegofatso Mabaso.

The former Blomefontein Celtic striker got off the mark as he netted twice in the space of just five minutes in what was his first Absa Premiership start for The Buccaneers.

Impressively, Mabasa had a 100 percent shot accuracy from his three attempts on goal throughout the 90 minutes, as his teammates registered a further 15 shots at goal but only Thembinkosi Lorch registered one more shot on target.

However, Mokwena will be delighted to have finally registered his first ever victory as a head coach in the top flight after five matches in all competitions.

It was also a debut for Bucs' new French goalkeeper Joris Delle and youth graduate Zakhele Lepasa, who was introduced for Mabaso in the 72nd minute.

Pirates moved up to seventh on the log standings and now trail log leaders Kaizer Chiefs by just two points after five rounds of fixtures, though Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits have a game in hand.
