Former Orlando Pirates coach Ruud Krol says he has not spoken to SuperSport United

Local media reported this morning that Matsatsantsa officials had jetted out to the Netherlands to meet with the former Orlando Pirates coach, who guided Bucs to their first Treble in the 2010/11 season before being shown the door.

However, Krol tells snl24.com/kickoff that is far from the truth.

“No, SuperSport have not approached me and I have not approached them,” he says. “I read that one of the newspapers there [in South Africa] said SuperSport flew to Holland to meet me, but I am in Tunisia at the moment!

“So no … I have not seen or spoken to anyone from the club.”

Krol recently guided CS Sfaxian to the Tunisian League title, but says he would love to coach in South Africa again.

“I love your country; I love its people. I will come back to work in South Africa some day, but I can’t say for sure when,” says Krol, who adds that he has a release clause in his contract at Sfaxien which allows him to leave when he wants to.

Asked whether he still keeps in touch and follows the happenings at Pirates, Krol says: “Orlando Pirates will always have a very special place in my heart. However, it would be unfair for me to say anything about the club because you have to respect the current coach [Roger de Sa] and what he is doing.”
