A prominent and experienced coach who has managed several PSL clubs recalls how he believes an influx of dodgy foreign coaches began.
Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt recently reignited the debate about local clubs hiring mediocre coaches from overseas instead of giving locals a chance.
Hunt mentioned "beach soccer" coaches of the past and implied that "plumbers and fishermen" would eventually come and work in the country.

But the former SuperSport United mentor also praised Orlando Pirates for opting for Rhulani Mokwena and believes more PSL clubs should be brave enough to follow suit.
"It depends on the calibre of coaches they are hiring," Cavin Johnson, who was recently replaced by Slovakian Jozef Vukusic at AmaZulu, tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"The calibre of coaches from overseas, what have they won? Where are they from? Do you get what I'm saying? What is the state of their football? We've got to look at it deeply otherwise you will make your decision on who is coming and going, do you get what I'm saying?
"You know worldwide everybody thinks Europe is the capital of the world. I don't think so. I think Africa is the capital of the world. And because it's being colonialised, we think like them. So until we can't think like them anymore we will always be colonialised in our thoughts."

Johnson made an example of the late former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Jeff Butler, whom he believes opened the doors for chancers from Europe to come to Mzansi.
Born in England, Butler was regarded as one of the most successful foreign coaches in South Africa and also coached Bafana Bafana in 1992, but was fired over issues of falsifying his CV.
"It will always be clear once you compare, once you look at who is who. And you only found out I think ten years later that Jeff Butler was a fake. So we were led by a fake all the time," Johnson explains.
"But you can call it being colonialised, like I said we think Europe is the capital of the world, I personally think Africa is the capital of the world. We like it when people come here and they speak a different language but we don't like a guy from Venda who speaks a different language."

Reminded by this website how successful Butler was in his time as Chiefs coach, Johnson stuck to his opinion.
"Ja he was successful, why? Because he was clever. Everybody can be successful. He was clever, he saw how these South Africans were beginning to understand, they don't look, they don't see, all you have to do is change them," he replies.
"That's what he was, he was an average Englishman. He was fake to me, he was completely fake. There's been a lot of taking us for a ride in Africa. There's been a lot that have come here and taken the money and gone but the country has not yet improved.
"I think the conversation around local or foreign has to be deeper. All that I'm saying is, let's do it properly. Look at England, they have foreign coaches, Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, but those people have taken their game to another level completely. Do you see what I'm saying? [Mauricio] Pochettino is an Argentinian but he's taken the team [Tottenham Hotspur] to another level completely."
