Erwin Isaacs: Nathan Paulse showed his class against Kaizer Chiefs

The Urban Warriors were well on their way to their first win of the season on Saturday at Athlone Stadium when veteran Paulse continued his habit of netting against Amakhosi just before the hour-mark.

However, Daniel Cardoso got the leveller for the visitors late on to deny the home side maximum points.

Isaacs reckons although it would have been nice to get one over the Soweto giants, the Ajax players can hold their heads up high after this result.

“We shouldn’t be too despondent,” Isaacs, who replaced Bantu Mzwakali just after the hour-mark, tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“In fact we can take a lot of heart out of this performance and result. It was pleasing to see that we tried to implement the things we did on training. We gave them a run for their money at times. We played well in patches and Nathan was again showing his class against Chiefs.

“People shouldn’t forget we played a team that has won five games in a row. I think we didn’t do too bad. Like I said we can take a lot of heart out of this and build on this result going forward,” the 30-year-old adds.

Man of the match Mosa Lebusa, meanwhile, was disappointed not to win and told SuperSport TV after the match that his side’s approach may have been wrong.

“It’s more like we lost two points than gained one,” he said.

“It was a difficult game. It was a typical game of two halves. First half at the beginning we dominated and second half we got the goal and then after that we sat back and allowed them to come and they scored and after that they put us under pressure.

“After we scored we tried to defend our lead and that’s the mistake we did. We should have scored and then tried to get another one and then maybe we would have eased the pressure.”
