Stellenbosch FC failed to close in on the top-four in the DStv Premiership after playing to a 1-1 draw against Maritzburg United on Saturday evening.
Interestingly, there were no major changes from Stellies nor Maritzburg other than goalkeeper Sage Stephens returning for the Maroons and Lucky Baloyi got back in for United.
A host of inviting opportunities in midweek against SuperSport United left Stellies to walk away with just a point and not all three, while Maritzburg stunned Royal AM in the KwaZulu-Natal derby.
It was another lively and energetic start from the Maroons where the quick feet and all-round fast nature of Ashley Du Preez caused the Team of Choice a few worries.

Stellies carved a threat from set-pieces in the middle of the first spell and they were nearly rewarded on that front when Mogamad De Goede headed a delivery from Marc Van Heerden over target.
The Team of Choice were required to make a substitution five minutes before halftime, where Alfred Ndengane came on in the place of Clayton Daniels.
Stellenbosch and Maritzburg continued to look for the all-important breakthrough shortly after the second half commenced, but to no avail.
The Team of Choice it is managed to get their noses in front when the first-half substitute Ndengane converted a penalty at the midway period of the second half.
Stellies weren't behind for too long as a well-worked team move found Judas Moseamedi, who took aim and finished off exquisitely against his former side.
The Maroons targeted a win within the final stages of play through substitute Stanley Dimgba, but the Team of Choice blocked entry as it finished all square in the Winelands.
