DStv Premiership match report Chippa United v Stellenbosch 17 April 2022

There weren't wholesale changes from either side, with Siphelele Luthuli the only change for Chippa and Ashley Du Preez installed as the Maroons sole alteration from their win over Golden Arrows.

Stellenbosch made the first threat with five minutes gone as Du Preez ran on the end of a through pass from Judas Moseamedi and worked a close-range save from goalkeeper Lloyt Kazapua.

It was just Stellies in the opening quarter and had clear inviting opportunities from close-range by Moseamedi and Juan Oritz quickly averted by their opposite number Kazapua.

The Chilli Boys staged a rare foray later in the half in which Janovane September opened an angle on the edge of the area before he fired beyond the goal of Sage Stephens.

Chippa were the first to make a substitution as the second half began, with Thokozani Sekotlong introduced and Azola Matrose recalled.

Kurt Lentjies's boys were renewed minutes into the resumption and were denied the front-foot when Stephens produced a superb one-hand save to parry Bienvenu Eva Nga's close-range shot.

Although, the Chilli Boys did grab the lead with 15 minutes to go after Sammy Seabi latched onto a cutback from a tight angle around the area and nestled the top corner with a thumping strike.

Stellenbosch went in desperate search for the equaliser following the final exchanges, but the Chilli Boys closed shop and picked up the win.
