Chippa United striker Khune in limbo in Port Elizabeth

Khune was transfer-listed just days before the close of the window along with Bafana Sibeko, Jabulani Nene, Enva Wiltwer and Dumisani Zwane.

While Sibeko, Zwane and Nene have since moved, Khune and Wiltwer are still stuck in the Eastern Cape with the two players being told to stop training with the squad.

snl24.com/kickoff has been told that Khune has resorted to training alone while he awaits further instruction.

“Lucky is still in PE but he is stranded and frustrated because he has been told to stop training with the rest of the team after he couldn’t move elsewhere at the close of the transfer window,” says a source.

“He wakes up every morning and goes jogging but it is not a healthy situation at all. He has now been told that they will call him back to the office to give him further direction about what should happen next since they [the club] didn’t terminate his contract before the close of the transfer window.

“At this rate it seems he might just have to sit and wait for his contract to expire. It is a depressing situation for the boy.”

Khune – who started a single game and made a further four substitute appearances since signing in August – is under contract with Chippa until the end of the season.
