Changes to Carling Black Label Cup format in 2013

The match takes place at FNB Stadium on July 27.

Fans will now be able to select the player they want to vote onto the field, as opposed to one they want to remove.

The team’s regular coach will then decide the player that should be replaced.

This means if there is a fan-favourite who does not make the starting line-up, supporters still be able to vote him into the game.

To vote the player onto the pitch, Kaizer Chiefs will SMS the player’s jersey number to 30671, while Orlando Pirates will use 30672.

“We are always looking for ways to innovate and improve the Carling Black Label Cup concept. One of the things that our Champion Coaches told us last year was that they would like a change to the substitution mechanism and we have heeded their call,” Carling Black Label general manager Vijay Govindsamy says.

“This is a campaign for the fans, it is their chance to step into the limelight and we want to make it as enjoyable and as interactive as possible for them.”

Voting for the starting line-ups remains open until the July 23 at midnight.

Fans can do this by purchasing a Carling Black Label beer and dialling *120*764* on their cellphones.

Fans must then enter their unique code found on the underside of the bottle cap and the # sign (with no spaces in between), and can then choose the team they would like to manage, and the players they would like to see start. Voting is free of charge to the public.

Those supporters who cast their votes can win great prizes, including a share of R3-million worth of airtime, match tickets to the event on July 27 and, best of all, a coach’s experience with either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs on match day.

All supporters who cast their vote for the players they would like to see compete in the Carling Black Label Cup will be automatically entered into this competition.
