Bloemfontein Celtic interim coach Lehlohonolo Seema content with MultiChoice Diski return

Seema is the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge coach but has been holding hands with John Maduka as interim coaches since the end of October after the departure of Serame Letsoaka.

In the eight games that Seema and Maduka have been in charge they have won two, drawn four and lost two, but the former Lesotho international is not thinking too far ahead.

“I still enjoy working with our Diski team because there are still a lot of things that I am learning,” says Seema, who appears to have taken control of the steering in the front seat that he shares with Maduka.

“I am not going to feel hard done (if a new coach is appointed) because I am still looking to go back to class and get my UEFA B and then UEFA A, then look for the Pro (licence). So for me I am not in a rush to be the head coach of Bloemfontein Celtic. If they find a new coach and send me back where I was in the Diski I will be more than happy. I am still a student of the game.

“I don’t think the club management are looking to appointing us as permanent coaches. They are still looking for a coach and they have told us that as long as the results are coming right then they don’t have the pressure of looking. We are just helping them so that they get the right man that they want. I am not even thinking of staying until the end of the season. I maintain that I will take it game by game because the following morning you can find that there is a new coach. However, I have prepared the team for the short break and given them the programme. I think I still have a long way to go. These are some the tests that I am getting along the way which is a good experience for me,” he explains.

Prior to this temporary role heading the technical team with Maduka, the 36-year-old acknowledges that he wasn’t aware that being at the helm comes with not sleeping at night and the strain of players not executing instructions.

“If this is the trauma that I will have to go through then I am not sure,” he giggles in reference to players not following the simplest of instructions.

“I have been in football and have assisted three coaches at Bloemfontein Celtic and I know what they went through because I was part of the technical team. I was just saying that at times when you give players instructions and you give them everything that you think will help them in the game and then they don’t. I think I am learning fast to get the heart beat pumping all the time but it is the line that I decided to take so I hopefully I will get there. I am enjoying it for now. Before this I never knew that coaches don’t sleep especially when you are playing mid-week and on weekends,” says Seema.

Celtic, who beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 in Soweto on Tuesday, resume duty on February 8 against Mamelodi Sundowns.
