The Czech shot-stopper, who spent a decade with the Blues, is set to start against his former club in their League clash at Stamford Bridge as the Gunners look to continue to halt the defending champion’s progress in the EPL thus far this season.
Cech started against Chelsea in the Community Shield at the start of the season, yet on his first return to the Bridge, Wenger hopes he will be able to control his emotions and continue his solid form for his new club.
“You know you have to score the perfect goal in front of him,” Wenger told reporters.
“I just want him to focus on this game and not be influenced by the occasion. You can’t go there and wonder if you’re standing in the right goal or not.
"It is always difficult to go back to your club and play but fortunately he has handled that this season. That is why I decided to play him in the Community Shield. It is the first step that is important and he has dealt very well with it.”
Arsenal have beaten Chelsea just four times in their last 29 meetings, yet hopes his side will show mental and physical strength to raise thei game for the big match-up.
“That is part of the key of the game,” he said. “Hopefully we will have defensive strength.
“For us it’s a big game and we know our position at the end of the season will depend on how well we do in the big games.”
Chelsea currently lie 17th in the EPL standings with just one win from five games, yet Wenger insists he is not focussing on his opposition.
“I do not think too much about where Chelsea stand in the league at the moment,” he said. “I focus more on us performing well with full power.”
