Ace Ncobo: PSL season cannot be cancelled null and void

Domestic football has been on a forced break for almost two months due to the current lockdown in the country and it is not clear when football will be able to resume.

The PSL executive committee has been locked in a meeting since late morning on Thursday deliberating on what to do as the football fraternity awaits some direction.

Several leagues in Europe like Belgium, Netherlands and France have already declared their seasons null and avoid but the situation in the Absa Premiership is different because of the title and relegation battles.

Ncobo, who is also a respected former match official, has expressed his viewpoint that the current season must be completed no matter when that will be.

"I don't think it will be fair for the season to be cancelled," Ncobo tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"For me I would say the league must resume when it's safe to do so, because cancelling it will create unnecessary challenges.

"Like for example, the image of the league will be at risk because some people will complain as the decision won't suit everybody."

Ncobo believes it is not wise to stress about next season when there is still a campaign to be finished.

"Let's finish the season, then plan properly for the following one on what the fixtures will look like," he concludes.
