UNPACKED: What Sebelebele brings to Pirates

Orlando Pirates wingback Kamogelo Sebelebele's statistics against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 were off the charts, after an inspired showing in front of a sold-out Orlando Stadium crowd.

The Man of the Match award has become somewhat of a controversial topic in the PSL, with supporters often voicing their displeasure over players chosen.

It came as a surprise that Sebelebele did not walk away with an individual MTN8 trophy for his performance against Sundowns as not only most the Ghost backed him as an outstanding player in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final on Saturday but the stats also speak volumes.

The former TS Galaxy man had a joint-highest rating of 7,7/10 alongside teammates Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Lebone Seema and Marcelo Allende.

However, he was better in other metrics, as he had the most shots of any player in the match (4), and according to statistics, if Bucs were going to score a winner, the goal was most likely to come from the 23-year-old.

He had an xG (expected goal) of 0,75, higher than any other player who took to the pitch.

The speedy player had the joint-second most touches in the opposition box (4) (same as Iqraam Rayners), with only Evidence Makgopa touching the ball more in the opposition box (5 times) from either side.

His threat going forward also appeared in the stats, as he had the most successful dribbles, with a 100% successful rate, going through on goal three times out of the three attempts he made individually.

Going up and down the right channel meant the 23-year-old also had the most duels in the game (16), more than any other player.

"On top of the show when we were doing the build-up, we spoke about what does Sebelebele bring? I said he's playing against a technically gifted player in (Aubrey) Modiba," former Pirates striker Phumudzo Manenzhe said on SuperSport TV.

"But what does he bring? He brings aggression, speed, he brings that hunger of asking for the ball behind (the defence), and it's exactly how Orlando Pirates got the goal."
