The blonde-haired winger last played in the national team in June having also played in four of the five matches at the AFCON finals.
For the September dates, he was ignored having just recently arrived at the Soweto giants, where he has only made five appearances without a goal or assist.
He was an unused substitute in Saturday's MTN8 triumph.
However, none of this could deter the Angolans in causing a frenzy when Gilberto touched down at the Quatro de Fevereiro Luanda International Airport on Sunday night after his four-hour flight from OR Tambo Airport.
The 23-year-old flew from Durban on Sunday morning and then connected on flight DT578 from Johannesburg, which landed at 19:20 in Luanda.
Gilberto needed security personnel to escort him to his transport after fans scrambled to get close to him with media cameras on sight to capture the moments.
In the end, he was able to keep his cool as he walked with a smile before being driven to the team hotel.
On Monday, he was amongst the 14 players training at Estadio 11 de Novembro ahead of the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers against Niger – the first of which is in Luanda on October 11.
