The game against Usuthu at Orlando Stadium tonight (19:30) will take the Soweto giants back to the top of the standings should they avoid defeat.
It will also be the first of three matches which will catapult the Spaniard to becoming only the second coach to take charge of over 100 games at the Buccaneers.
That landmark achievement has only ever been surpassed by Rudi Krol throughout the PSL era years dating back to August 1996.
Even prior to that, during the in the NSL Castle Lager-sponsored First Division that ran from 1985-1995, Pirates never had a coach reach triple numbers of games in charge like Krol.
The legendary Dutchman called the shots in 118 games from July 2008 until May 2011.
Krol took charge of 37 in his first season, 38 in his second and 43 in his third when the side won the league and reached all three cup finals in the MTN8, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup.
With Riveiro certain to stay until the end of the season, he is guaranteed of at least another 31 matches in charge, which could stretch to 41 if Bucs reach the finals of both the Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League.
The Spanish coach has delivered five trophies so far in 97 games across all competitions and his next three to reach 100 will be against AmaZulu, TS Galaxy and Richards Bay FC.
