The addition of the fourth silverware within two years for Orlando Pirates has left them within sight of Kaizer Chiefs in the trophy count competition for trophies won during the PSL era years.
Pirates added their latest title on Saturday by lifting the 2024 Nedbank Cup at Mbombela Stadium.

This is the fourth trophy won since the arrival of Spanish coach Jose Riveiro two years ago.
Pirates can take pride in that while they have been a distance behind Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership since Riveiro arrived, they have won four trophies, overcoming The Brazilians in two of those finals.
While Sundowns have long become the most successful club (27 trophies) in the PSL era years, which came just after South African football started being recognised by FIFA, there is a rousing battle between the two Soweto giants.
For long the dominant club in South Africa, Chiefs have been stuck on 20 trophies since the last time they went up the podium to lift a trophy in May 2015.
With Sundowns overtaking Chiefs through the last nine years, Pirates have also covered ground by winning five trophies, with four won under Riveiro.
The fifth was won by Josef Zinnbauer.
Pirates have won the MTN8 thrice and Nedbank Cup twice since Chiefs last won a trophy, pushing their trophy tally through the PSL era years to 17.

As it stands, Bucs could get to 20 as soon as next season with the DStv Premiership, MTN8, Carling Knockout, Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League all at stake for them.
Of note is the fact that when Chiefs landed trophy number 20 of the PSL era years in 2015, Sundowns only had half of that loot but have since added 17 and surpassed Amakhosi.
