Extension for Pirates winger

Angolan winger Gilberto will remain at Petro de Luanda for the start of the new season after reaching an agreement for a loan extension.

The 24-year-old has been back home since the beginning of the year on loan at Petro de Luanda after struggling to get going at Orlando Pirates.

Gilberto’s six months at Bucs came with only a single appearance from start to finish from the 12 games that he got under Jose Riveiro.

He then asked to be loaned out in January.

While back home, he has won the league again and did so with plenty minutes to his name, which made sure he retains his place in the national team.

Gilberto is headlining Angola’s squad for the COSAFA Cup, which got underway on Wednesday in Bloemfontein.

After questions were raised about whether he will be returning, this website has gathered that a loan extension has been agreed for him to remain at Petro until the end of the year.

The initial loan agreement was until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Just like Pirates, Petro will play in the CAF Champions League.
