Pirates face a high-flying Platinum Stars this evening at Orlando Stadium.
In his regular column on the club’s official website, Lekgwathi says the team is high on confidence following their big win in the Champions League at the weekend, and adds that Sangweni’s knee injury should not put too much of a spanner in the works.
"Now we have a new challenge ahead of us which is to win tonight’s match against Stars – it will be a tough match – we cannot lose this match and they cannot afford to lose points either, as they are also pushing to win the League this season.
“... [Sangweni’s] absence is not a big problem for us as we have beefed up our squad for such eventualities. We had the Monday and Tuesday to prepare very well for this match and I can assure our dearest fans that we will once again try by all means to make them proud at the end of the 90 minutes.
“One thing though that I would like to emphasise to our fans, is that they please behave if by any chance we do not get the result we are all expecting from this match.
“Football can be a cruel game at times and not always the best team on the day wins – but whatever the outcome of that match maybe, we will put our best foot forward tomorrow night and we will play to win that match.”
Lekgwathi adds that playing at Orlando Stadium will not be too much of an advantage for Bucs this evening.
“Our fans must go all out and buy their tickets in advance and make sure that they cheer us until the last minute. The fact that we are playing home sometimes means nothing in football, so let us make sure that even though we will be playing at home, we put in some work in whatever capacity we have at the club.”
