Orlando Pirates 2013 Fifa Club World Cup draw

Pirates – now in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League – will be monitoring the draw, as it will determine who they could be up against if they are crowned African Champions.

The draw – at the La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakech – will determine who the CAF Champions play in the quarter-finals – the stage at which the champions of Africa enter the competition.

The possible opponents for the champions of Africa at that stage are Concacaf champions Monterrey, AFC champions (Guangzhou Evergrande/FC Seoul) and either OFC champions Auckland City or hosts Raja Casablanca, who must first do battle in a play-off contest before the quarter-finals.

Once out of the quarter-finals the champions of Africa will meet either Uefa champions Bayern Munich or Conmebol kings Atletico Mineiro.

Reaching the semi-finals provides the excitement of a possible meeting with Bayern – who along with Mineiro enter the competition in the last four.

Five of the seven teams to compete at the tournament, running from December 11-21, are already confirmed, while the African and Asian representatives will both be determined in November.

For now Pirates have a second leg semi-final contest away at Esperance de Tunis to deal with first, from which they need any scoring draw or outright win to proceed to the final, where either Al Ahly or Coton Sport will be waiting.
