Orlando Pirates' latest signing Ndumiso Mabena has lifted the lid on how his move to the Buccaneers transpired after his turbulent exit from former side from Royal AM.
The Buccaneers announced on Thursday that Mabena had officially re-joined the club on a one-and-a-half-year contract. The 35-year-old had been training with the MTN8 winners since September in the hopes of securing a deal after becoming a free agent.
He's since opened up on how the move came about.
"With all that was happening with me and Royal AM, we had to go through a lot but the Chairman (Irvin Khoza) opted to take me back. He said once I got my clearance I should give him my clearance and we'll work it out," Mabena said on Sports Nights Amplified With Andile Ncube on Thursday night.

The centre-forward was part of a Pirates' treble winning squad having played for the side from 2009 to 2014 and the 35-year-old said he couldn't pass up a chance to don the black and white once more.
"I was happy now [when Khoza offered the chance to rejoin] I couldn't say no to him with what I've gone through and all the silverware [we won] before."
Mabena becomes the latest forward the Buccaneers have brought back to Orlando this season after re-signing Kermit Erasmus from Mamelodi Sundowns on transfer deadline day.
Erasmus has already contributed one goal and three assists in his seven appearances for Pirates and Mabena will be looking to match or improve on that tally when the DStv Premiership resumes at the end of December.
