How Pirates can 'catch them off guard'

Ahead of the crucial tie against Pyramids FC, Orlando Pirates legend Albert 'Bashin' Mahlangu has already emblazoned the Soweto giants' name on the CAF Champions League trophy.

Pirates are up against Egyptian side Pyramids in the second leg of the semi-finals at the 30 June Stadium in the North African country on Friday.

The first leg ended 0-0 at FNB Stadium last Saturday.

"The score will be 1-0 in favor of Orlando Pirates," Mahlangu boldy proclaims.

"I'm saying this because teams like Pyramids and Al Ahly often think, 'We're playing at home, and nothing can go wrong.'

"Their approach will be much more relaxed compared to how they play when they are away. When they play away, they usually aim for a draw because it suits them, while a win is a bonus.

"However, today they will be laidback simply because they are at home, relying on their supporters to help them win the game.

"That’s where Orlando Pirates can catch them off guard. Pirates need to attack right from the first whistle.

"Pyramids will have the crowd behind them, but that’s something we're accustomed to," continues the former playmaker.

'Bashin' has also expressed joy at the likelihood of there being no lasers from the stands as CAF continue to clamp down on unsportsman-like acts.

"Pyramids performed very well when they were in South Africa, but we must also give credit to our boys. This is their first experience in CAF games, and so far they haven’t lost a match.

"This Champions League is meant for Orlando Pirates. They will finally add their second star."
