The Team of Choice are in the quarterfinals of the competition and will come up against Bloemfontein Celtic at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday (15h30), a venue where they hardly find themselves on the losing side.
Earlier this season, Fadlu Davids’ men were knocked out of the MTN8 semi finals by eventual champions SuperSport United and they will be looking to go one step further in the final knockout competition of the season.
The furthest they have been in the Nedbank Cup is the semi finals in 2014, when they were knocked out by Orlando Pirates, who went onto win the competition by beating Bidvest Wits at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The likes of Makaringe, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Siyanda Xulu will have big role to play to inspire the Team of Choice, who have had an amazing season with coach Davids, to the final.
“I think reaching the cup final...that's one of the things that we can be remembered for. And also doing well [in the Absa Premiership] and at least finishing in the top five,” Makaringe tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“But so far it’s been good, with the fact that we’ve been on a good run as a team and I’ve also been getting game time, so it’s been fair.
“But we also have dreams, aspirations to make it further in football so we always encourage one another to do our best for the team.”
