Vaal University of Technology FC coach Stanley Nkoana appeared overconfident when he was talking about facing Arrows in the Nedbank Cup at the pre-match press conferences.
"He's a good coach‚ an experienced coach‚ but a beatable coach‚" Nkoana told the media ahead of Saturday's cup tie at Dobsonville Stadium.
"I respect him as a coach. And coming up against him is a motivation to me. But‚ like I said‚ he's a good coach‚ with a good team‚ but a beatable coach. Any team is beatable.
"I may not be in his class [in language]. But his English will not be playing football on the day.
"He can motivate his team the way he motivates them. I can motivate my team the way I do. I can bola bola [speak] XiTsonga. If my team understand me‚ then he can speak to his team.
"We meet on the field of play. Then we will see whether his English will win the game or the players will win the game."
Komphela shared his thoughts these comments, and feels there is ongoing disrespect shown towards him in the name of hyping the game.
"It's sad. The 21st century has become awkward that our desire to claim fame literally throws the morals out of the window," he responded.
"Sometimes we become disrespectful and it can't be the norm, but I'm not going to respond to that, except that I respect him a lot.
"I respect the game a lot, it's just a pity that we as leaders tend to set a very bad trend that disrespect and rudeness are a thing.
"It's normal to disrespect a black person, it's just right to disrespect black person. I wish I were white. Maybe a bit of respect would have been put on my head."
