Makhubedu launched a scathing attack on Chiefs after their 2-1 victory over Acornbush United in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 in 2017, criticising Komphela’s tactics.
The former ABC Motsepe League coach quickly apologised but much of what he said then might still be on the minds of the club’s personnel, who could be seeking vengeance when Amakhosi face Bakgaga at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday (20h15).
However, Komphela insists that it is not within his nature to hold grudges against anyone, while defending the integrity of the game by showing respect to his opposite number.
“I’m no man of vengeance. Never. Not me. Try me – commit the worse error ever, and check if I’ll forget and forgive,” said Komphela.
“The next day I’ll come across you as if it’s not me. That’s why I’ll hardly have a wrinkled face myself, because I don’t hold my face tight in anticipation of revenge.
“I relax. Let go, let God. And I think then that issue was addressed, and I don’t want to start it now. I know it would come across nicely.
“We wish him well as a coach there. It would be nice to see a lot of us flooding the PSL, and also leaving the game with lots of integrity and respect.
“It is one industry that we have to protect, because if I don’t protect football by disrespecting a colleague, I’m actually destroying what is supposed to be giving us a life.
“If you suffer sometimes, don’t just go out there because of your suffering, lest you forget that, as you try get yourself through the suffering, you’re making others suffer.”
