Royal Eagles coach Phuti Mohafe knows facing Kaizer Chiefs will be tough

Mohafe admits it will be difficult to face fired-up Amakhosi in the Nedbank Cup last 32 as they are also dealing with their struggles in the GladAfrica Championship.

However, the coach is banking on the fact that players usually deliver against bigger teams because of the possibilities of winning contracts.

"We are going to play a big team Kaizer Chiefs, the team that is on fire, the team that is at the summit on the top of the log in the top league," he says.

"We are at the foot of the log in our league. The question is, how are we going to do it? How can you beat a team that is on fire when you are struggling in your league?

"But in the cup everyone goes there so showcase their talent. Players want to be signed by bigger teams."

With Ernst Middendorp confirming that Khama Billiat is fit and available for selection, Mohafe says they know how to stop the Zimbabwe international.

"Fortunately with Billiat you know that to stop him you must cut off the supply. If you can't cut the supply from [Lebogang] Manyama, then you will be dead," he explains.

"So we cut the supply in the midfield, we don't give them space."

According to the coach, if Middendorp decides to field fringe players they will have a better change to emulate the likes University of Pretoria, Baroka and TS Galaxy, who have caused upsets against Amakhosi.

"The question is, will they be playing regulars or the fringe players? So it's a 50/50 situation. If they play fringe players the possibility of beating them is there," he reckons.

"If they play regulars then you say we've been looking at them, so what can I do to plan for them?

"Yes, the possibility is there to beat them."
