Pitso Mosimane reacts to Mamelodi Sundowns Highlands Park Nedbank Cup draw

Pitso Mosimane says Mamelodi Sundowns will need to be both mentally and physically strong to overcome Highlands Park in the Nedbank Cup last eight.

Sundowns have been drawn against the Lions of the North in the quarter-finals after beating VUT 2-0 in the last 16 in Tshwane on Sunday.

Highlands, on the other hand, defeated Kaizer Chiefs via penalties after a 1-1 draw to earn their place in the next round.

Mosimane would have been wishing for another lower division team in the quarter-finals but this time PSL draw-master Luxolo September had other plans and handed The Brazilians a journey to Tembisa.

"It's forever a difficult game. Highlands Park are a tough team," Mosimane admits.

"You need to be in good physical shape to play Highlands Park and you don't need to go 120 minutes with Highlands Park.

"They are a tough team, especially at home, at their place. It's not a nice place to go because not many people come back with a victory there.

"Tembisa is not an easy place to go, that's why not many people come back from that place. They are a strong team.

"They just won a big game now in the Nedbank through penalties. We need to be mentally ready more than anything. They have good players like Peter Shalulile and Lindo Mbatha."
