Sundowns needed a late winner in the last five minutes of extra-time from Keletso Makgalwa to book a spot in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.
"Ja, you get emotional when a youngster [Keletso Makgalwa] comes in and scores. I don't run like that to your Sirinos and them but I mean Keletso, he's unbelievable. He's got that, you don't give him a chance in the box to face [the goal] he can finish," the outspoken Sundowns coach told SuperSport TV.
With a big league clash against Orlando Pirates on Tuesday in mind, Mosimane risked by resting Zwane, Sirino and Andile Jali although the game did go to extra-time.
"We went where we didn't want to go, that's why [Motjeka] Madisha's knee is heavily strapped because we have a big one on Tuesday. I didn't want to go to extra-time but look you can take it to be honest.
"Ricardo [Nascimento] was struggling also, Madisha heavily-strapped but I had Wayne [Arense] and Mosa [Lebusa] on the bench if anything happens," he went on.
"Ja tough game, Highlands is tough hey. We're coming back here again in a few days' time. Ja this man-to-man of theirs, they mark hey. You really have to play out of your skin here. That's why 'Vila' [Sibusiso Vilakazi] has been playing all the games, I just saw that he must come off, because I'm saving him for Tuesday."
Mosimane admitted that he was frustrated with his team's lack of rhythm with his big stars rested.
"We were just frustrated because we're spoiled, we always have our combination play, our movements but we don't have 'Mshishi' [Themba Zwane], we don't have [Gaston] Sirino and 'Vila' is loaded with a lot of games, that's what causes the frustrations.
"But you gotta be patient, we were patient with the team. We know that we have to be patient, the goal will come, we always score you know. I was just praying that we keep zero behind, the goal will come. It's a cup game, who cares? You just have to move on," he added.
