Peter Shalulile sets 15-goal target this season after slaying Kaizer Chiefs

Peter Shalulile came into form just in time to help Highlands Park eliminate Kaizer Chiefs from the Nedbank Cup, and believes God's hand is at work.

Shalulile was named man of the match for a third game in succession after scoring in a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs in Tembisa on Saturday, helping his side beat Amakhosi 5-4 on penalties.

The Namibian striker experienced a goal drought in January but has now hit form again with six goals so far in February, with 15 goals scored in all competitions this season.

The 27-year-old has since thanked God for his form as well as his teammates for picking him up during his dry spell.

"It was a bad January for me without goals but that never stopped me going," says Shalulile.

"I always believe things come at the right time and I guess God has brought things at the right time and my form is back. I will keep pushing the same way I have been doing.

"It's all about hard work. We give glory to God for these man-of-the-match awards because without him it's impossible. My teammates have also helped throughout everything."

Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango is currently the leading scorer in the Absa Premiership with 14 goals but Shalulile has set his own targets this season.

"I have set myself an aim. For me it's 15 goals [in the league]," he reveals.

"What happens after is a bonus because there are a lot of good strikers in the league."
