Last week this website confirmed that 'Skhindi Se Ngane' – as the player is affectionately known amongst his teammates for pulling up his 'child's shorts' very high during matches – has signed a pre-contract with the Lions of the North.
But the full-back says he would love to see his beloved Lidoda Duvha finish in the top eight and play in the Nedbank Cup final before he says his goodbyes at the end of the season.
"What to expect from me, what I just told myself is to help the team so that we can get into top eight, that's all, so we mustn't just get relegated we must just push, push. As long as I'm involved I must help my team, I must make sure my team stays in the PSL," Munyai tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"They [Leopards fans] must expect the same person, Marks Munyai is the same you see, he will never change. They must expect the same player. I just wanna see ourselves in the top eight, as long as at the end of the season we can find ourselves in top eight then I think we'll be happy.
"We want to play the final [of the Nedbank Cup]. Here sihlala sikhuluma ukuthi [we always say] we need the gold medal, we must get a gold medal because that's what we want to achieve. If Baroka can do it, it means we can."
The Limpopo-born defender made his first appearance for Leopards since the news that he is leaving emerged in last Wednesday's rained-out Nedbank Cup encounter against Bidvest Wits.
Although he flatly refused to go into details about him being sidelined, Munyai says it felt good to be on the field again against Wits.
"The game [against Wits] was just the same game like the other games that I have played, there was no difference," he says.
"The game, it was not bad, honestly I didn't allow pressure onto myself so I just told myself that each and every game is the same and I will do what I do best without thinking of a lot of things."
The match was abandoned at half-time with Leopards leading 1-0, although they have forfeited the goal due to the match having to be replayed, and Munyai believes they are ready to continue where they left off.
He adds: "Wits is a big team so whatever players they will play we must just know that we have to be strong and I think we are ready, we are ready for playing Wits. Our main aim is to win, we want to win."
