Speaking to the media on Wednesday during their press conference, Lamola was asked about the feeling of playing against his former side in a knockout cup and whether there is extra motivation.
"Yes, I am extra motivated to play against my former team, it's always like that to everyone, we know what we need to do on the day, we really need to do well for ourselves," he said.
The striker revealed that Abafana Bes'thende really want to do well this time around as they haven't won a cup in 10 years. The last time they did so was back in the 2009/10 season in the MTN8 when they beat Ajax Cape Town.
"As a club we always wanted to do well and this season we believe we can achieve something. To do that we will have to make sure we beat Bloemfontein Celtic this Saturday then we can get into the semis, which will give us more chances," he explained.
This will be the first ever knockout match between the two clubs, who have been regular participants in the Absa Premiership for most of the last 20 years. They have played against each other 30 times in the league.
Lamola was also asked about his future at the club as there has been talk about his contract and whether he will still be part of the Lamontville side come next season.
"I'm still focused at Golden Arrows, this is my home," he replied when asked when his contract expires. "I don't know hey but I'm still with Arrows."
