Chiefs bounced back from the Soweto Derby league loss to Orlando Pirates with a 2-1 defeat of the NFD side at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Erick Mathoho’s header in the 28th minute from a Bernard Parker corner kick and Leonardo Castro’s powerful finish from a flick-on by Parker saw Amakhosi advance to the quarterfinals of the event, alongside Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United, Baroka FC, Ubuntu Cape Town and Free State Stars.
Mamelodi Sundowns will host EC Bees tomorrow, while Cape Town City will entertain Orlando Pirates the next day with the last-eight draw taking place afterwards in the Mother City.
“I’m not gonna think too aggressively. I just appreciate the fact we just went through this match,” Komphela said.
“It is part of our obligation and responsibility to try go through the semi-final, final and God willing, win it.
“Break or whatever, honestly speaking I’m not going to put myself under so much mental pressure, because if you knew what’ll happen tomorrow then why put yourself under so much pressure? And If you don’t know as well, why put yourselves under so much pressure?
“You might not face the same challenge so we are relaxed, taking it one step at a time. We’ve got through this one, let the players celebrate, let our supporters celebrate. We'll wait for the draw on Thursday and take it from there.
“We are at work here.”
