Amakhosi are a step closer to the final of the competition, after beating Baroka FC 1-0 in the quarterfinals at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday. Mulomowandau Mathoho scored the only goal of the game with a header in the first half to keep his side’s hopes of winning silverware this season alive.
The Soweto giants will face Komphela’s former side Free State Stars at home in the semi finals, after the draw was conducted at Cape Town Stadium yesterday, following Mamelodi Sundowns’ 2-1 victory over Cape Town City.
“There is still a semifinal to play. For now, the most important thing is the win because we want this trophy,” Komphela told the Amakhosi website.
“We had some chances to bury the match in the first half. I thought Ryan Moon, Leonardo Castro and Hendrick Ekstein all came close to scoring. We could have easily gone up 4-0 in the first half.”
“We don’t have the luxury of selecting competitions. We are still playing to win the league as well. Hopefully we will finally get a trophy – I think our administration and supporters deserve it. This is a big club and we need to win trophies.”
“We take each and every game seriously. We have a huge responsibility to deliver.”
Amakhosi will face Ea Lla Koto in the Absa Premiership in Bethlehem on Wednesday.
