Bernard Parker needs no reminding of what the South Africa FA cup can often serve up when the so-called giants are pitted against lower division sides.
Just recently Chiefs were humbled by TS Galaxy, who are currently in 12th position in the GladAfrica Championship this season, when they were defeated in last season's Nedbank Cup final to become the first ever Premiership side to lose a cup final to a lower tier outfit.
The current log leaders will also remember a time when they were beaten by the likes of AmaTuks, FC Cape Town and Baroka in three successive years between 2009 and 2011.
"The Nedbank Cup is unique. It throws up many surprises and we have been surprised in the past," said Parker on his club's website.
"Looking back at the 2013 tournament and scoring the winning goal, I will say paying attention to detail in every game is important.
"We have the material to do well and our technical staff is taking care of all the details to ensure that we make it a memorable tournament this season."
However, Amakhosi remain the all-time record holders of this competition, having lifted the trophy on 13 occasions since its inception in 1971.
"I am looking forward to the game this weekend. It's all about getting into the next round. Since I have been here, the Nedbank Cup has been good to us," 'Die Hond' added.
"We know it's not going to be easy for us because of how we have been performing [in the league] recently. Everybody will want to perform well against us.
"It is up to us to stay mentally and physically sharp through the rest of the season."
