Makhubedu, who is yet to lose since he was made the caretaker coach, feels Komphela is doing an even better job than last season. Chiefs have one of the tighest defences in the league, but they are not scoring enough at the opposite end of the pitch. Amakhosi, together with SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic, have scored just 20 goals in 24 matches. Only Platinum Stars have scored less (15) this season.
Baroka, who lost 2-1 in the Absa Premiership to the Soweto giants in January, will face Chiefs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals on Saturday (20h15).
“In the league, Kaizer Chiefs is the most discplined team. Lately it has been us and them, so on Saturday it will be two disciplined sides. They don’t concede a lot and we don’t concede a lot,” Makhubedu says.
“I am not saying me and Steve [Komphela] are going to play boring football. We try give fans what they want and attack each other.
“People can attack Steve and whatever, but he has done his part as a coach. People are missing chances and he can’t [go on the pitch] and score. He is doing a good job, I think he is doing better than last season. He built this team last season and this season they are doing well, it’s just that they are not converting.
“They have good strikers like [Bernard] Parker and [Leonardo] Castro. So it’s going to be a tough game.”
