My Dream Team: Willem Jackson

Every PSL legend's dream team we explore throws up another interesting side chock-full of quality players from the past, and Willem Jackson's is no different.

Born in Bloemfontein in the Free State, Jackson is a former Bafana Bafana centre-back who hung up his soccer boots in 2010.

Now 47, he started his professional football career at Bloemfontein Celtic in 1992 before moving to Orlando Pirates in 1997 for six fruitful years during which he won two league titles.

Jackson's last team in the Absa Premiership was giant-slaying Platinum Stars, which is now Cape Umoya United.

"I think I won the league with Pirates twice, and I won some cups you know, the Spectacular [Charity Cup], I can't remember how many times with Pirates," Jackson tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I won the Telkom Cup with Silver Stars. Uhm... with Celtic I went to the Coca-Cola Cup final. With Silver Stars I also went to the Coca-Cola final. I can't remember how many cups."

Jackson says his biggest achievements in football were the day he received a call-up from the national team, and meeting the late former president Nelson Mandela for the first time.

"I was also one of the first players that went to the World Cup [France '98] for the country. Those were my biggest achievements in my soccer career."
